The Lead-Up

Hopefully you’re an organized gent because in the days leading up to the bachelor party, you’ll need every ounce of your organizational skills to make sure the coming party goes off without a hitch.

  • Confirm everything. Your hotel reservations, tickets to a wine tour, when the limo driver will pick you up, etc.—they all need to be confirmed so you don’t run into nasty surprises.
  • Get a head count. It’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to RSVP anymore, so you may need to call the stragglers who haven’t responded to your invitation. You’ll need a final head count so you know the number of tables to book at a restaurant, the number of hotel rooms, and how much food to buy.
  • Fill in the groom. Hopefully you’ve kept your pal in the dark about the exact details of the evening, but he’ll need to be enlightened eventually so he knows what to wear and what to expect. It’s okay to keep one or two surprises close to the vest, but give him a general head’s-up.
  • Be prepared. Now is the time to review the entire party in your head and make sure all of your bases are covered. If you’re going golfing all day, for example, buy lots of sunscreen and water so your guests don’t keel over from heat stroke.
